History

Heritage Pavilion Stage is the brainchild of Peterborough playwright Ed Schroeter. The young audience historical theatre project was born in January 2000 when he approached Arbor Theatre with the concept. Together they approached the Peterborough Centennial Museum & Archives (PCMA) and proposed a collaboration. The PCMA education department agreed in August of 2000. The curtain rose on the project's first play on May 8, 2001. Since then, the project has produced more than six environmentally staged young audience history plays, evolving into a separate entity with its own board of directors. The rest, as they say, is history ...

Ed Schroeter received the Peterborough Historical Society's J. Hampden Heritage Award in 2002 for the development of Heritage Pavilion Stage and the Samuel Armour Award in 2004 for his work as a writer and producer of historical theatre productions. In July 2004 he was inducted into the Peterborough Pathway of Fame.
