When Scottish-Canadian Missionary William King accepts a teaching post in Louisiana in the 1830s, he learns the true meaning of freedom from a slave. Together, King and Talbert, his newly acquired "property", set out on a dangerous quest to find a haven for fugitive slaves in Canada. Based on the true story of King and his settlement at Buxton, Ontario.

Suitable for Grades 3 to 12 and families.
