Bonfire House
World Premiere!
Written by local playwright Ryan Kerr
Directed by Heritage Pavilion Stage Artistic Director Phil Oakley
Featuring Matt Gilbert, Esther Vincent &
Dan Smith
Dr John Hutchison and his wife Martha rejoice that
they are able to remain in Peterborough due to the
generosity of residents who came together to build a
house for them.
On completion, the community
throws a party to celebrate having their first doctor
permanently established in their midst. John and Martha
work hard to maintain the trust of the people who gave
them so much. They endure the joys and sorrows of
childbirth, primitive medicine, accidents, travel, challenges
of a growing community...Characters include neighbours,
other physicians, patients, and Sandford Fleming, John's cousin, who spends time with the Hutchison family upon his arrival in Canada.
This project is the result of a partnership between Heritage Pavilion Stage and the Peterborough Historical Society
