When a desperate Irish tenant farmer accepts a position as his landlord's rent collector, the job shatters his world, pitting him against family, friends and neighbours. Through this historical fiction, discover some of the tragic conditions which drove people to join Peter Robinson's Irish emigration from Ireland to the Peterborough area in 1825.
Suitable for Grades 4 to 12 and families.
Follow-up Workshop
After the play, join Arbor Theatre's artists and the Museum education team to build a context for what you have experienced in an active, in-depth workshop about the Peter Robinson emigration and the settlement of the Peterborough area. The settlement gallery features a reproduction ship's berth and log shanty, the Archives hold Peter Robinson's original papers with details about the individuals who made this extraordinary trip, and Peter himself (re-enactment) will be on hand to reflect on his achievements. (Workshop spaces are limited.)
